This exhibition is a testament to the vibrant artistic spirit that thrives within our membership, showcasing diverse works of our member artists that we are proud to share with you.

This exhibition is close to our hearts and the clearest gesture of thanks to our members whose support of the Durham Art Guild is critical to our success as an organization. We truly could not do everything we do without them.

Cultural Relevance

Again, As They See Us by Lee.Andrew

When I look at this piece, I feel the emotion and weight of the bondage of being a Black man in society on display for the world to see, confined by so many narratives, and fearful of how the world will react. The way the artist fragments the frames captures the many complex themes and experiences of Black men while unifying them into a single, cohesive image. I see this piece as not only culturally relevant, but timeless.

Portal Study 001: Afro Pick Transmitter by Blu Moody

“This piece is brilliant and experimental, from the afro pick on the back of the head functioning as a transmitter, to the statue's eyes lighting up as you walk past. It's a striking blend of Afrofuturism and surrealism. When I look at this piece, it feels like an acknowledgment that our future is bright; when I walk past it, it feels like a visual representation of an ancestor confirming that from the other side.”
