In my travels, I come across many older buildings that are rich with character and I am certain, a colorful and sometimes dark past. Like we often they say about ancient buildings, "if these walls could talk, oh, the stories they could tell..."
"The Institute" is my reflection on the imagined past of a fascinating building I saw in the historic section of Lynchburg, Virginia. I don't often use a collage motif for my paintings, but conceptual works such as this feel to me like a collection of memories and almost random objects, all related to the subject.
