reef IV edition 1/75 by Steven Herrnstadt
High resolution digital photograph, archival giclee print; 30×22inches
Detail of a glass ceiling installation by Chihuly in Tacoma, WA. Although my normal photography is of small overlooked sections of the natural environment, as I walked beneath the 25-30 yards of installation the intermingling of colors and forms gradually transported me. It was as if I were looking upwards from beneath a surreal coral reef. This series consists of detail images as if I were looking upwards through a reef.
