While sometimes the narrative of my work evolves from abstract beginnings, the idea for this piece arrived fully formed the moment I found the bodybuilders in an old anatomy textbook, and the execution closely matches my original vision. I wanted to juxtapose their performative hypermasculinity with an effeminate background and bind them to objects associated with roles institutionally enforced as women’s work.
