Forest Walk, Bratislava Winter (February 2025) by Mariangela Rinaldi
20x28;
Acrylic on Canvas;
2025
I am increasingly intrigued by the interplay of time and place in my subject matter. From that I have created an Evocative Travel Memories series - travel-inspired paintings in which I endeavor to convey the sensory experience of a particular moment in a distant locale. Forest Walk is the second piece from the series.
The scene that inspired Forest Walk happened upon me in February 2025 as I exited a 13th century castle in the village of Casta, Slovakia. Earlier, when I entered the castle, it had been just a cold, grey day. What I exited into was an unexpected snow that bathed the grounds in a surreal silver aura. From that memory I created Forest Walk - Casta, Slovakia.
