Cypress, Black River by Laura Oleniacz
Oil on canvas; 10×20inches
I have been painting some of North Carolina's wetlands in the last few years. Our wetlands are important spots for biodiversity and history. I painted this piece of cypress trees on the Black River after a kayak trip to see the trees that are hundreds of years old in Three Sisters Swamp. While I feel many appreciate our mountains and our oceans, I hope to draw attention to the beauty of our wetlands, too.
