The Durham Art Guild Presents

Solace

by Way of Wonder

DAG Golden Belt Gallery | July 24th - August 31st, 2025

EXHIBITION STATEMENT

My past two exhibitions focused on discovering comfort within existential wonder, my creative community, and myself, through an abstract narrative. In this final chapter of Solace by Way of Wonder, I’m presenting a collection of work from those exhibitions that I feel best represents the duality of my abstract method. I named the cluster of detail soul atoms, and define them as an organic form made of fine lines that, when composed together, create unlimited visual possibilities. By inviting viewers into my narrative of a hyperactive comfort zone, I hope to foster curiosity and invite introspection on who we are as people in proximity to the material and immaterial world.

ARTIST BIO

I'm a mixed media artist originally from Maxton, North Carolina, and I currently live in Durham. I’ve earned a Bachelors in Fine Arts from East Carolina University, with a concentration in painting and drawing. Using watercolor, ink, and collage, I create abstract forms that present a realm manifested from my approach towards escapism. Drawing repetitive lines developed as a coping mechanism for my anxiety. While creating intricate detail with fluidity, I am able to redirect my mindset, experience a sense of euphoria, and relieve myself from the weight of mundane pressures.
