Showing Up: A Creative-Brain Approach to Marketing

  • Brightleaf Square 905 W MAIN ST STE 25 C Durham, NC (map)

Many artists know that having an online presence matters, but actually showing up can feel harder than it should. Posting disrupts creative flow, self-promotion feels uncomfortable, and it’s easy to think, “I don’t have anything finished to share.” There’s a reason for this. Research shows that creative minds often process information differently: prioritizing imagination, pattern-making, and deep focus. Tasks that require constant context-switching, self-evaluation, or performance (like marketing and social media) can create more friction for creatives. Not because they’re doing it wrong, but because their brains are wired for a different kind of work. This one-hour workshop offers a creative-brain-friendly reframe. Instead of focusing on algorithms, trends, or constant output, we’ll explore why these tasks feel challenging and how to approach them in a more human, sustainable way. We’ll also look at why these are genuinely exciting times to be an artist. As AI and mass-produced content become more common, there is a growing appreciation for work that is handcrafted, human-designed, and rooted in story. An online presence isn’t about selling all the time. It’s about helping people discover you, connect with your work, and return again.

This workshop is designed to be approachable, encouraging, and practical; grounded in how creative minds work, and focused on helping artists show up with more ease and confidence.
