“Finding a postcard in your mailbox is like receiving a pocket-sized nugget of love. It’s a friend’s “hello” or “wish you were here” flush against an image of the landscape that shaped that message. Sometimes too, you might buy a postcard just for yourself as a sweet memento of a place that holds a past version of you. At its heart, a postcard is a gift of a place tethered to feeling. We are defined and shaped by places: a childhood home, a place that birthed a life-long friendship, a landscape that first inspired in us a sense of wonder. Postcards: Memories, Briefly and Forever is a reflection on postcard places. What are the landscapes that become synonymous with our deepest selves?”
