RESULTS! 2016 Artist in Residence!
On behalf of the Durham Art Guild and the 2016 Artist in Residence jury panel, thank you to all the applicants for sharing your work and your aspirations with us. There were 25 applications and they were highly competitive and diverse which was very exciting and also very challenging.
Our conversation centered around artists who were creating strong work and who also put together thoughtful and well-executed artist statements and proposal narratives. We were searching for an artist who had a clear and engaging plan for the residency and could also really capitalize on the resources the program offers. Many applicants were highly qualified and hit all or several of the key focus points. After much deliberation we are very excited to welcome our new resident artist in July and collectively feel confident that they will be an excellent fit for this year's program.
Congratulations to William Paul Thomas, our selected 2016 Artist in Residence!
DAG's artisist in residence program will provide Will with free studio space for 6 months, a $1000 stipend and a culminating exhibition in December in Room 100 Gallery all at Golden Belt in Durham.
